TechTalkTown (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website techtalktown.com (the “Site”). Information You Provide
- Account information — If you sign in via GitHub OAuth, we receive your GitHub username, email address, and profile avatar from GitHub/Supabase Auth.
- Email address — If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address.
- Watchlist preferences — If you add products to your watchlist, we store those selections linked to your account.
- Price alerts — If you set a price alert, we store your email address, the product, and your target price.
- Communications — If you contact us via email, we retain your message and email address to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data — Pages visited, time on page, referral source, and browser/device type via privacy-focused analytics (Vercel Analytics).
- Affiliate click data — When you click an affiliate link, we record the product, merchant, referring page, and timestamp. This data is not linked to your personal identity.
- IP address — Collected by our hosting provider (Vercel) for security and performance purposes. We do not store IP addresses in our own database.
Information from Third Parties
- GitHub profile data — When you sign in via GitHub OAuth, Supabase Auth provides us with your public GitHub profile information.

- Track affiliate link clicks for revenue attribution (anonymized)

3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Essential Cookies
Required for core site functionality: authentication session tokens (Supabase Auth) and your cookie consent preference (stored in localStorage).
Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand how visitors use the Site. Vercel Analytics is privacy-focused and does not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information. It collects aggregated, anonymized usage data only.
Advertising
We may display advertisements via Google AdSense. When active, Google may use cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on your prior visits to our Site or other websites. Affiliate Cookies
When you click an affiliate link to a merchant (Amazon, Best Buy, B&H Photo, Adorama, or Newegg), that merchant may set their own cookies to track the referral. These cookies are governed by each merchant's own privacy policy and are not controlled by us.

4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

- Supabase — Authentication (GitHub OAuth) and PostgreSQL database, hosted in the Oceania/Sydney region. Supabase Privacy Policy.
- Sanity.io — Content management system for product and review data. No user data is shared with Sanity. Sanity Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense — Advertising (when active). Google Privacy Policy.
- Resend — Email delivery for newsletters and price alerts (when active). Resend Privacy Policy.
- Amazon Associates & other affiliate programs — Affiliate tracking for revenue attribution. See each merchant's privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
- Account data — Retained while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
- Newsletter subscriptions — Retained until you unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe via the link in any newsletter email.
- Affiliate click data — Retained for up to 12 months for analytics purposes. This data is anonymized and not linked to personal identity.
- Price alert data — Retained until the alert is triggered or you request deletion.
- Price history data — Retained indefinitely. This is aggregated product pricing data and contains no personal information.
- Analytics data — Retained per Vercel's data retention policy.
6. Your Rights Under GDPR (European Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right of access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data.

TechTalkTown is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. 9. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information:
- All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
- Database access is restricted to authenticated services only.
- Environment variables and API keys are stored securely using Vercel's encrypted environment variable system.
- We do not store payment or credit card information. All purchases are processed directly by the merchant.
- Authentication is handled by Supabase using industry-standard OAuth 2.0 protocols.
While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States (Vercel hosting) and Australia (Supabase database, Sydney region). By using the Site, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
11. Do Not Track
Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Because there is no accepted standard for how to respond to DNT signals, we do not currently respond to them. However, our analytics provider (Vercel Analytics) is privacy-focused and does not track individual users across sites.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
