The Dell XPS 14 (2024) showcases a bold new design direction for Dell's flagship ultrabook line, but the execution is divisive. The OLED display option is gorgeous, the build quality is impeccable, and the Intel Core Ultra processors bring genuine AI capabilities. However, Dell's controversial function row replacement with a capacitive touch bar frustrates reviewers, battery life is disappointing for a 14-inch ultrabook, and the high starting price makes it hard to recommend over the MacBook Pro or ThinkPad X1 Carbon.

The OLED option is the star of the show, but even the IPS panel is well-calibrated.
The typing experience is good but the capacitive function row is universally criticized.
Disappointing battery life is the XPS 14's biggest weakness.
